There is one thing I have always had in my life: a plan. But sometimes, our plans and God’s plans don’t exactly line up. Looking back now, I realize that was one of the greatest blessings of my life. I’ve lived in Munford my entire life. This little town is home, and I’m proud to call it that. I graduated from Munford High School in 2012 with a plan to go to college for electronics. I attended Gadsden State and graduated with an associate degree in Electronics Engineering. When I graduated college, for the first time in my life, I didn’t have a plan. I didn’t know where I was going or what I was supposed to do. I made some wrong decisions and found myself headed in the wrong direction.

 

I knew I needed a change, so I joined the United States Air Force. My plan was simple: serve 20 years and retire. My wife and I moved to Kansas, where I spent five years serving as a heavy aircraft mechanic, working on the KC-135 and KC-46. In 2017, I deployed to Qatar and Afghanistan. But once again, God had a different plan. After six years of honorable service, I moved back home to Munford. And once again, I had no idea what I was supposed to do with my life.

 

I started working as a farm manager. I knew I wanted more, though. I knew I wanted to be outside, work with my hands, and eventually find something I could truly be passionate about. That’s when Casey came into the picture. Casey had started climbing trees on the side, and I thought it would be pretty cool to help him. We started with a single-cab F-150, two chainsaws, a rope, a saddle and a set of spikes. That was it.

We cut trees, hand-loaded them onto a trailer, and hauled them off to dump. Eventually, I asked Casey if he wanted to go into business together. At the time, he wasn’t ready. He was continuing to follow God’s plan for him at Shocco Springs.

So I waited. I worked small jobs to help pay the bills while my wife worked to provide for our family. Then, in 2022, Casey came to work full-time. From that point on, God has blessed us in ways I never could have imagined.

 

What started with two guys, an old truck and a couple of chainsaws has grown into something far bigger than we ever dreamed. Today, almost five years later, we have four employees working alongside us and hundreds of customers who have trusted us with their homes, their property and their trees. Those customers don’t just keep our business going, they help feed our families.

And for that, I will never be able to say thank you enough. When I look back at my life, I can see how every chapter led me to the next one. The things I thought were failures were sometimes just redirections. The doors I thought were closing were often God opening another one.

 

I had a plan for my life…God had a better one.

 

I never imagined that leaving the Air Force, coming back home, and starting with a single-cab F-150 and two chainsaws would lead me here. But God knew. And today, I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a thing. I am incredibly thankful for my wife, my family, Casey, our employees, our customers, and every single person who has supported us along the way. I don’t take any of it for granted. God has blessed us far beyond what we deserve, and I’m excited to see where His plan takes us next.
